How to connect your own domain to your website

You can show your website on your own address, like www.yourhouse.com, instead of the free yourname.directbookingpage.com address. It takes two short steps and no technical knowledge.

Step 1. Get a domain

Buy your domain from any registrar you like, such as Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun, Google Domains alternatives or a local provider. Any extension works: .com, .gr, .ch, .net, .travel and so on.

Step 2. Add one DNS record

Open the DNS settings of your domain at your registrar (sometimes called "DNS management" or "Advanced DNS") and add a single A record with these values:

TypeHost / NameValue / Points to
A@46.101.71.19

The @ symbol means "the main domain itself". If your registrar already has an old A record for @, replace it with this one.

Step 3. Add the domain to your website

  1. Sign in and open your dashboard.
  2. Click the settings of the website you want to connect.
  3. Type your domain (for example yourhouse.com) in the Custom domain field.
  4. Save.

How long does it take?

In most cases your domain starts showing your website within a couple of minutes. In some special cases the internet needs more time to learn about the change, and it can take up to 48 hours. Nothing more is needed from you while you wait.

Something not working?

  • Check that the A record value is exactly 46.101.71.19 and the host is @.
  • Remove other A records for the same host that point elsewhere.
  • Type the domain without https:// and without a trailing slash.
  • Wait a little and refresh. Try a private browser window too.
