How to take card payments with Stripe

On the Pro plan guests can pay by card on a secure Stripe page, and the money goes straight into your own Stripe account. We take no commission; only Stripe's standard card fee applies, for example about €7.75 on a €500 booking from an EU card.

Before you start

  • You are on Pro or Property Manager. Upgrade in Billing.
  • The property is connected to your PMS (Hosthub or Lodgify). Card payments need live nightly prices, and iCal links do not carry prices. See How to connect your PMS.
  • You do not need a Stripe account yet. Stripe creates one during the steps below in about five minutes. If you already have one, you sign in to it instead.

Step 1. Connect a Stripe account

  1. Open Payments in the dashboard menu.
  2. Under Name this account, type a name only you will see, for example your company name.
  3. Click Connect a Stripe account. Stripe asks for your identity, business details and the bank account for payouts.
  4. When you are sent back, the account shows as Active. If Stripe still needs something, the card tells you and you can finish later.

Step 2. Choose the account for each property

  1. Back on My Properties, click the property's ⋯ menu and choose Payments.
  2. Under Stripe account, pick the account that should receive this property's payments and save.

That is it. The booking widget on your site and on your Book Now link now shows a card payment option. Guests who prefer can still send a request by email.

When do you get the money?

Stripe pays out to your bank on its standard schedule for your country, typically a few days after the first payment and then rolling. Payouts, refunds and disputes are managed in your own Stripe Dashboard. The dashboard's Bookings page lists every paid stay and has a one-click full refund.

Receipts and invoices

Stripe emails the guest a receipt automatically, for free. If your guests need a formal invoice, turn on Send Stripe invoices on the account in Payments. Stripe charges a small fee per invoice.

More than one owner or company?

Connect as many Stripe accounts as you need and pick one per property. Property managers use this so each owner is paid directly.

Something not working?

  • "Connect Stripe to accept payments": shows on the property when there is no active Stripe account yet. Finish step 1.
  • No card option on the site: the property has no PMS prices, or it is still a draft. Connect the PMS and publish it.
  • Stripe asks for more details: open Payments and follow the link on the account card to finish its setup.
